Tangier, Morocco Day trip from Seville
Join us in our Tangier, Morocco Day Trip from Seville. Tanger in Spanish, is the largest city in north Morocco. It is located on the Maghreb coast at the western entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Spartel. Just 14 kilometers separate here Africa and Europe. The town is the capital of the Alhucemas region.
Many civilisations and cultures have influenced the history of Tangier, starting from before the 5th century BC. Tangier was a nexus for many cultures. In 1923, it was considered as having international status by foreign colonial powers, and became a destination for many people from Europe and also American diplomats. The old town (medina), enclosed by 15th-century ramparts, is dominated by a kasbah, the sultan’s palace (now a museum of Moroccan art), and the Great Mosque. European quarters, whose populations have declined considerably since integration with Morocco in 1956, stretch to the south and west. Tangier has been the summer site of the Moroccan royal residence since 1962.
