With its magnificent 11th century walls and founded by the Romans in 184 BC. C., Ávila is the city of Santa Teresa de Jesús. It is a small city in the west of Spain, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León; It has around 100,000 inhabitants, being one of the oldest and most important cities in Spain.
The city retains its historical atmosphere with narrow streets and buildings from various eras, including Roman ruins, Muslim palaces and churches such as the Iglesia de la Virgen de las Nieves, a temple that was built on top of the Belforad Synagogue.
The route will follow a very important section, that of the famous wall that surrounds the city. We will wonder how this defensive system was devised? Why has it been preserved to this day?
We will reveal these themes from the thick wall that surrounds the entire historic center of the city as we make our way to the Roman necropolis.
