We will collect you by coach with our guide at the agreed time and place to begin the tour of Gibraltar. During the coach journey, you’ll enjoy the drive through Málaga and along the Costa del Sol whilst our guide shares anecdotes and interesting facts about this British colony.
Once we arrive at our destination, to cross the border between La Línea and Gibraltar, we will first go through passport control in La Línea. Please remember to check your documents for entry into Gibraltar. You must carry a valid, original identity card or passport to cross the border. Photocopies will not be accepted, nor can you carry your documents on a mobile device. After showing your documents, we’ll continue towards the centre of Gibraltar, enjoying the views and local history.
We will split into groups and board a minibus to begin our tour, during which we will explore the Rock of Gibraltar, enjoying a 90-minute panoramic tour of the city. During the journey, we will pass through tunnels and along small cliffs overlooking the sea, leading to the southernmost point of Europe, where we will stop for 15 minutes at the viewpoints at the Point of Europe. From there, you will be able to see the Strait of Gibraltar, from which both Africa and Europe are visible. A little further on, we’ll continue our climb up the rock face to enter the impressive San Miguel Cave, where legend has it that people once believed the caves themselves were the Gates of Hell, an entrance to the underworld.
To round off the tour, we’ll head to the area where the monkeys live. The Barbary macaque, an endemic species to Gibraltar, lives in the wild within the Rock of Gibraltar Nature Reserve, also known as Peñón de Calpe or Monte Calpe. A visit to the Rock of Gibraltar is like visiting another country and experiencing a unique blend of cultures found nowhere else in Europe. Once the sightseeing tour has finished, you’ll have some free time to have lunch – why not try some fish and chips at The Bastion Restaurant? – or go shopping in the Rock’s shopping district, particularly along Main Street. At the time specified by our guide, we’ll meet up again to return to the original pick-up point.
