Discover masterpieces of modern art at your own pace

The Museum Reina Sofía is recognised as one of the most important museums in the Spanish capital. In 1992 it opened its doors to house one of the great collections of Spanish contemporary art. Today it is one of the most visited museums in the country. It is housed in the former General Hospital of Madrid, a large neoclassical building from the 18th century located in the Atocha area.

All the pieces in the Reina Sofía Museum’s galleries date from 1881, the year of Pablo Picasso’s birth and the same date as those in the Prado. The museum’s permanent collection includes works by great 20th-century Spanish artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. Posee obras tan importantes como “ El Guernica” of Picasso, “Rostro del gran masturbador” of Salvador Dalí, “La mesa del músico”of Juan Gris, “Pintura – Caracol, mujer, flor, estrella” of Joan Miró.

Thanks to the audio guide, you can explore the museum at your own pace, stopping at the works that catch your attention and enjoying detailed explanations that will help you contextualise each piece. This form of visit is ideal for those who prefer a more personalised, unhurried experience.

In addition to the permanent collection, the museum often hosts temporary exhibitions of national and international contemporary artists, which further enrich the visit. The tour not only allows you to admire masterpieces, but also to understand the evolution of art in Spain during a period of profound social, political and cultural change.

Please note that the audio guide offered is not the museum’s official one, but an extra resource aimed at enhancing your visit. An internet connection is required to access the audio guide.
