Discover two World Heritage cities on this day trip to Ávila and Segovia from Madrid – a journey back in time that you simply must not miss!
At the agreed pick-up time, we’ll meet at our Naturanda office at Plaza de España, 9. From there, we’ll head to Ávila, a city renowned for its impressive medieval walls and for being the birthplace of Saint Teresa of Ávila.
Accompanied by our guide, we will take a guided tour of the historic centre of Ávila, discovering its main monuments and the legacy of a city designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will walk along a section of its famous 11th-century city walls and learn how this impressive defensive system was designed, as well as the reasons why it has been preserved to this day.
During the tour, we’ll discover some of the city’s most iconic sights and learn about the history of its streets, squares and monuments. We’ll also visit the Roman necropolis, where we’ll gain an insight into some of Ávila’s earliest history. After the tour, we’ll have some free time for lunch and to explore the city at our own pace.
Next, we will continue our journey to Segovia, another of the great historic cities of Castile and León, which has also been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, we will take a guided tour of its historic centre, discovering the city’s significant Roman, medieval and Castilian heritage.
We’ll admire one of its most impressive monuments, the Segovia Aqueduct, a spectacular and perfectly preserved feat of Roman engineering. We’ll stroll through the Plaza Mayor and wander through the streets of the historic centre until we reach the majestic Alcázar of Segovia, one of Spain’s most iconic castles and one of the city’s great landmarks.
On this day trip from Madrid, we’ll discover two unique cities, brimming with history, monuments and charming spots. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the heritage of Ávila and Segovia in a single day and journey through centuries of history without leaving Castile.
Finally, we will return to our starting point in Madrid.
