Guided Visit to the Reina Sofía Museum: History, Art and Culture in Madrid
Make your reservation
Enjoy a guided tour of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, one of the most important museums in the Spanish capital. It opened its doors in 1992 to house one of the great collections of Spanish contemporary art. Today it is one of the most visited museums in the country. It is housed in the former General Hospital of Madrid, a large neoclassical building from the 18th century located in the Atocha area.
The visit starts at the museum entrance, where you will meet a professional guide. Discover works by great Spanish artists of the 20th century, such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and Joan Miró. During this one and a half hour visit you will enjoy such important works as ‘El Guernica’ by Picasso, ‘Rostro del gran masturbador’ by Salvador Dalí, ‘La mesa del músico’ by Juan Gris, and ‘Pintura – Caracol, mujer, flor, estrella’ by Joan Miró.
The guided tour will give you a better understanding of the artistic trends that marked this period, such as surrealism, cubism and expressionism, and how artists used their work to express emotions, social criticism and utopian visions of the world.
During the visit you will also have the opportunity to get to know lesser-known but equally influential artists on the Spanish art scene. This makes the tour a complete experience, in which not only the great figures are highlighted, but also new views and expressions that enrich the story of modern and contemporary art.
Thanks to the guide’s explanations, you will live an immersive experience that goes far beyond the simple contemplation of the works.
