The route to the famous White Villages follows the ancient border that separated the Christian kingdoms of Castile from the territory of Granada (Al-Andalus). We will cross the province of Seville and discover picturesque white villages that combine history and landscape.
From Seville, we will travel through different natural environments: the Andalusian countryside, where you can see the historic castle of Aguzaderas, and then an increasingly mountainous landscape. Our first stop will be at an oil mill, where you will learn about the traditional process of making olive oil, an essential product in Andalusian cuisine. Here we will also enjoy a tasting of extra virgin olive oil from the area, allowing you to savour one of the best olive oils in Andalusia.
We will continue on to Zahara de la Sierra, a white village whose location between mountains and valleys is breathtaking. As you stroll through its narrow streets, you will discover the local history and enjoy stunning panoramic views.
The journey continues to the Sierra de Grazalema, an area of extraordinary natural, gastronomic and botanical interest. Here, native species such as the Spanish fir and the Payoya goat, whose milk is used to make the famous Payoyo cheese, stand out. Grazalema will be our lunch spot, with recommendations from the guide on typical dishes and local places to try them. After lunch, you will have free time to stroll through its whitewashed streets and enjoy views that, on clear days, allow you to spot birds such as crows and golden eagles.
Finally, we will arrive at Ronda, the largest city in the region, passing through the Alcornocales Natural Park. During the journey, you will learn about cork oaks and the cork industry as we approach the Ronda mountains, which offer spectacular views.
In Ronda, we will take a guided tour of its historic centre, starting at Plaza de la Merced and continuing along Alameda del Tajo, a promenade surrounded by nature and viewpoints overlooking the Guadalevín River. We will visit the exterior of the monumental Plaza de Toros and cross the iconic Puente Nuevo, contemplating the deep gorge of the Tajo. We will also discover other emblematic places such as the Balcón del Coño, the Mirador de Ronda viewpoint and the Palacio de Mondragón, former residence of Muslim kings, ending at the Church of Santa María la Mayor.
Once the tour is over, we will return to Seville after having experienced an unforgettable excursion full of history and beautiful landscapes.
The order and duration of the tour will be adjusted according to the time of year, weather, road conditions, and local holiday calendar.
