Carmona is a famous medieval village located on top of a hill in the region of Los Alcores. Its dominant position and luminosity led Julius Caesar himself to call it ‘the Star of Europe’. Its palace houses, Mudejar churches and three Alcázars make a visit to Carmona the perfect way to truly discover this gem in just a few hours.
With its Andalusian character and rich monumental heritage, Carmona is over 3,000 years old. Starting with the famous Puerta de Sevilla, which is now considered the oldest building open to visitors in Spain.
Our tour of Carmona will begin at the tourist office, where we will start our visit to the most emblematic places in the city accompanied by our Naturanda guide.
Cultures such as those of the Carthaginians, Romans, Muslims and Christians left an indelible legacy of great importance in every corner of its streets. From the Puerta de Sevilla gate, we will pass through the ancient Cardo Maximus from the Roman era and the Plaza de San Fernando, the nerve centre of the town.
After walking past the Church of Santa María, we will head towards the Puerta de Córdoba gate to reach the Alcázar del Rey Don Pedro, currently converted into a Parador hotel by the Town Council of Carmona.
We will continue through the old town, exploring its narrow streets, typical of an Andalusian white village. We will discover the rest of the Mudejar and Baroque churches, enjoying wonderful views of the Vega de Carmona from some of its impressive viewpoints.
After exploring the best parts of Carmona on foot, our guided tour will end after more than two hours very close to where we started.
