The excursion to Toledo, Segovia and Ávila is a perfect combination of some of Spain’s most important cities. Rest assured that our expert guides will provide you with a cultural journey exploring the best of these three beautiful cities. It is an opportunity to see some of the best medieval architecture , as well as some of the most spectacular natural landscapes in the country.
We will leave Madrid early in the morning from the meeting point. The first stop on this tour will be Segovia . Segovia is a city in central Spain, capital of the province of Segovia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is located on a plateau above sea level at an altitude of 740 metres (2,430 feet), near the confluence where three rivers meet to create a larger river called the Eresma. We will take a guided tour of the historic centre. As you discover Segovia, you will understand why this city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . We will walk through the Plaza Mayor, admire monuments such as the aqueduct and the cathedral, and then visit the Alcázar Real, a military fortress that includes Roman ruins.
With its magnificent 11th century walls and founded by the Romans in 184 BC. C., Ávila is the city of Santa Teresa de Jesús. It is a small city in western Spain, in the autonomous community of Castile and León; it has around 100,000 inhabitants and is one of the oldest and most important cities in Spain. The town retains its historic atmosphere with narrow streets and buildings from various periods, including Roman ruins, Muslim palaces and churches, such as the Church of the Virgin of the Snows, a temple built on top of the Belforad synagogue. The route will follow a very important section, that of the famous wall that surrounds the city. We will ask ourselves: ‘How was this defensive system devised? Why has it been preserved to this day?’ We will reveal these themes from the thick wall that surrounds the entire historic center of the city as we make our way to the Roman necropolis.
We will stop here for a well-deserved rest and enjoy free time to eat.
Passionate about history, we will continue our itinerary to the third city of the day: ‘Toletum’. This is what Toledo was called in Latin. Rich in history and culture, Toledo is known for its long tradition of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, which is why many call it the city of three cultures. On this tour, we will not only see the most typical places, but also hidden corners frequented by the local population.
