Guided tour of Italica from Seville
Book Now
We will begin our excursion to the Roman city of Italica departing from Seville. In just over 15 minutes, we will arrive at the nearby town of Santiponce, where more than 2,000 years ago the Romans founded their first city on the Iberian Peninsula. Our official guide will give you a brief introduction to the site, and we will then explore the ancient city that saw the birth of emperors such as Hadrian and Trajan to discover all its secrets.
We will walk along ancient Roman streets, mosaics, thermal baths and houses, such as Neptune’s House and the House of Birds. These are just some of the preserved wonders that we will have the opportunity to discover on a tour full of surprising images.
The famous Amphitheatre of Italica is the third largest in the world, with a capacity for 25,000 spectators, and was the site of the famous gladiator fights. Our visitors will have the opportunity to walk through the arena and the galleries of the building, travelling back in time to the era of ancient Rome.
We will also visit its famous Roman Theatre, discovered in the mid-20th century. It is one of the best preserved in Europe and is still in use today for events such as the famous Santiponce International Dance Festival.
After visiting the archaeological site, Naturanda will accompany you to the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, a medieval fortress that hides treasures from the Mudejar, Gothic and Baroque periods, including significant paintings, murals and sculptures. After this visit, we will head back to Seville, where our guide will bid you farewell after you have enjoyed this magnificent activity.
