Day trip to Guadarrama National Park

Book Now

Join our unforgettable day trip to the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park from Madrid and discover some of its most spectacular spots with an expert local guide.

Just 40 minutes from Madrid, we’ll find ourselves in a natural setting of extraordinary beauty and tranquillity, starting with the stunning La Pedriza area, one of Spain’s most unique granite landscapes. During the tour, we’ll pass through Manzanares el Real, where we’ll enjoy the views of its iconic castle from the outside.

We will continue on to Navacerrada, where we will stop for a rest and lunch, before heading on to the stunning mountain passes of Puerto de Navacerrada and Puerto de Cotos, surrounded by high-mountain scenery.

We will then head down into the Rascafría valley, one of the most picturesque areas of the mountains, where we will visit places such as the Mirador de los Robledos viewpoint and the charming Parque Finlandés, weather permitting.

The itinerary may be adjusted depending on the weather conditions and the group’s pace, whilst always ensuring the best possible experience.

The Sierra de Guadarrama is Spain’s fourth-largest national park, comprising eleven ecosystems that are home to over 1,280 species, thirteen of which are endangered. There are also over 1,500 native plant species and thirty types of vegetation. The fauna includes deer, wild boar, Iberian wolves, roe deer, fallow deer, mountain goats, badgers, various mustelids, wildcats, foxes and hares.

We also have a wide variety of waterbird species in the reservoirs, as well as large birds of prey, notably the imperial eagle and the black vulture – truly magnificent creatures that you’ll be able to see on this tour organised by Naturanda.

Highlights of the park: the milder and wetter climate of the Sierra compared to that of the plateau, combined with the fact that it has been less altered by human activity, has made it a haven for biodiversity. Its landscape features glacial cirques and lakes, as well as outcrops of granite; its vegetation includes high-mountain ecosystems and extensive Scots pine forests.

Without a doubt, the best way to discover the natural surroundings and traditional culture of Madrid.

Private Excursion to El Escorial Monastery and Valle de los Caídos

Booking

The Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is the building that best sums up the ideological and cultural aspirations of Spain’s ‘Golden Age’. On this private guided tour, we will enjoy a monument declared a World Heritage Site and, during the visit, we will see the most significant rooms of the monastery: the Pantheon of Kings and Princes, the Chapter House, the Palace of the Habsburgs, the Basilica and, of course, the famous Library where thousands of historical volumes are preserved.

It was built in the 16th century during the reign of the powerful King Philip II, and was designed as a residence, monastery and pantheon for the Royal Family, becoming a symbol of the magnificence of the Spanish Empire.

It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. During the tour, you will visit the interior of the monastery, the royal palace, the pantheon of kings and princes, the chapter houses, the cloister of the four evangelists and the basilica.

The Valle de los Caídos (Valley of the Fallen) is a striking monument erected in memory of those who died during the Spanish Civil War.

Located in the beautiful Cuelgamuros Valley, in the Guadarrama Mountains, this gigantic structure consists of a basilica and crypt carved into the rock of a mountain, crowned by an imposing cross over 150 metres high.

Entrance to the valley is included, as well as a visit inside the basilica.
