The route to the famous White Villages of Andalusia follows the ancient border that for centuries separated the Christian kingdoms of Castile from the Nasrid territory of Granada (Al-Andalus). During this excursion from Seville, we will travel through landscapes of great beauty while discovering villages steeped in history and tradition, offering spectacular panoramic views.

We will leave Seville and travel through different natural environments in the province. First, we will cross the Andalusian countryside, where we will be able to see the historic Aguzaderas Castle in the distance, and little by little the landscape will become increasingly mountainous.

Our first stop will be at a traditional oil mill, where you will learn about the process of making olive oil, one of the most representative products of Andalusian cuisine. Here we will also enjoy a tasting of extra virgin olive oil from the area.

We will continue on to Zahara de la Sierra, one of the most spectacular white villages in Andalusia. Nestled between mountains and valleys, this enclave offers breathtaking views and an authentic atmosphere. We will stroll through its narrow streets as we discover the history of this charming village and enjoy its natural viewpoints.

The route will continue to the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, an area of great ecological, botanical and gastronomic value. It is home to unique species such as the Spanish fir and the Payoya goat, whose milk is used to make the famous Payoyo cheese.

In the village of Grazalema, we will stop for lunch, with recommendations from the guide on local restaurants and typical dishes of the area. Afterwards, you will have free time to stroll through its white streets and enjoy the natural surroundings.

After lunch, we will head towards Ronda, crossing part of the Alcornocales Natural Park, one of the largest cork oak forests in Europe. During the journey, we will learn about the importance of this tree and the traditional cork industry as we approach the impressive Serranía de Ronda mountain range.

Once in the city, the monumental tour of Ronda will begin, a walking tour of its spectacular historic centre where history, landscapes and tradition come together at every turn.

We will start at Plaza de la Merced and continue along Alameda del Tajo, one of the most beautiful promenades in the city, surrounded by nature and viewpoints overlooking the deep Tajo gorge and the Guadalevín river.

During the tour, we will admire the exterior of Ronda’s historic bullring, considered one of the oldest and most monumental in Spain, before arriving at the city’s great symbol: the Puente Nuevo, the impressive feat of engineering that connects the two parts of Ronda over the Tajo gorge.

We will also discover unique spots such as the Alameda del Tajo viewpoint, the Ronda viewpoint, the Convent of Santo Domingo and the María Auxiliadora viewpoint, all of which offer some of the best views of the city.

You will have access to Ronda’s main monuments thanks to the Ronda Tourist Pass included in the experience, which allows entry to the Puente Nuevo, the Arab Baths of Ronda, the Giant’s House, the Joaquín Peinado Museum and the Mondragón Palace, former residence of the Muslim kings, allowing you to delve deeper into the historical and cultural heritage of this beautiful city.

After completing the tour and enjoying the unique atmosphere of Ronda, we will return to Seville after a day filled with history, spectacular landscapes and some of the most beautiful villages in Andalusia.

The order and duration of the tour may be adjusted depending on the time of year, weather conditions, road conditions and the local festival calendar.

We will pick you up from your selected meeting point to start our Tour of Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas from Malaga and the Costa del Sol, perfect for those who wish to explore two of the most beautiful villages in Andalusia. Enjoy the panoramic views and the stunning countryside scenery as we pass through the white villages of Ardales and Cuevas del Becerro.

Our first stop: Setenil de las Bodegas, located approximately 95 km from Malaga, with a travel time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Setenil de las Bodegas is famous for its houses built under huge rocks. We’ll arrive around 10:00 a.m., and you’ll have about an hour to stroll through its streets and admire this impressive natural wonder between Calle Cuevas del Sol and Calle Cuevas de la Sombra, along with the ingenuity of its people as you walk down Calle Jabonería to Plaza de Andalucía. Don’t miss the romantic sign “Bésame en este rincón” (Kiss me in this corner). A brief but unforgettable destination.

After the visit, we’ll meet back with the guide and head to the province of Malaga to explore Ronda, just 17 km from Setenil de las Bodegas, one of the oldest and most historic cities in Spain. We’ll arrive around 12:00 p.m. and begin a guided tour with an official guide lasting an hour and a half to discover the dream city of Ronda. The tour includes the Alameda del Tajo, home to the famous viewpoint of Ronda, popularly known as “el balcón del coño” (the “oh my god” balcony). We’ll walk past the majestic Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza and the Paseo de Blas Infante. We’ll cross the New Bridge and stop at the mural of “Andalucía Romántica” before entering the old town of Ronda.

We’ll admire old palatial buildings turned into museums such as the Mondragón Palace and visit the interior of the Casa Museo Don Bosco, a modernist mansion from the early 20th century, whose garden offers one of the best views of Ronda. Here, you’ll taste a typical local sweet: “yemas del tajo”. From its terrace with exclusive views of the bridge, you’ll capture one of the most spectacular images of Ronda, the New Bridge framing the mighty Tajo gorge over the Guadalevín River.

We’ll continue to Plaza Duquesa de Parcent, surrounded by some of the most iconic buildings in the city, such as the Town Hall, the Convent of the Clarisas, the Convent of Claridad, and the Church of Santa María la Mayor. From there, we’ll return to Plaza España. Take advantage of two hours of free time to enjoy the local gastronomy or continue exploring Ronda, including the New Bridge Viewpoint, the walls of Ronda, the Arab baths — some of the best preserved in Europe — or the Casa del Rey Moro, an 18th-century palace. From there, return to the Bus Station via Calle Jerez, completing a tour that covers the essentials of Ronda in just half a day.

Private excursion to the Pueblos Blancos and Ronda from Seville

Book

This private excursion will start from Seville, Cordoba or Cadiz, from where we will depart to the White Villages and Ronda. A customizable itinerary for those who want to know at their own pace the nature, the andalusian culture and the beautiful landscapes of the Sierras of Cadiz and Malaga.

The route to the White Villages runs along the old border between the medieval kingdoms of Castille and Granada, which is why during our journey if we leave from Seville or Cadiz we can see ancient watchtowers and fortresses such as the Castle of Las Aguzaderas, which looms imposingly over the countryside at the height of the municipality of El Coronil, in an environment that will gradually change from the plain to the mountains.

From there, we will move to Zahara de la Sierra, in the province of Cadiz, within the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, a protected area of great ecological value. We will walk through its narrow streets, enjoy its beautiful views and visit an olive oil mill dedicated to the extraction and production of olive oil. Our visitors will be able to taste this delicious delicacy and purchase any of its products.

The excursion continues to the mountains of the Sierra de Grazalema, which is a mountainous area of extraordinary scenic, geological and botanical interest. A natural environment where the Pinsapar and its Mediterranean forest stand out, which happens to be the place where it rains most in Spain. If you prefer we can also visit the location of Setenil de las Bodegas, a village built inside the rocks.

Our destination later will be one of the most significant white villages of Andalusia, Grazalema, which gives its name to the mountain range itself. We will enjoy this beautiful village and its impressive views towards the mountains. In Grazalema we will take a break to enjoy its gastronomy in one of the typical bars of the area.

Finally, we will go to the mythical and romantic city of Ronda, in a trip characterized by the impressive views of the Ronda mountains and by the flight of the vultures. The Alameda, the Puente Nuevo, the Paseo de los Toreros and the Tajo are some of the most important points of the city.

Our guide will explain you the most important historical and cultural details of Ronda and will also accompany you if you wish to visit the places you like best.

Once we have finished our visit to Ronda we will set off again where we will arrive after having enjoyed a beautiful day discovering the nature, history and culture of the White Villages of Andalusia.

Remember that, if you wish, in this customizable tour we can stay more or less time in each place or visit another town such as Arcos de la Frontera. The recommended departure time is around 9 am but we can also choose the time that suits you best.

What will we see?

Naturanda offers its clients a two-day trip through the picturesque White Villages of Andalusia with accommodation included in the romantic city of Ronda, a route through the White Villages you will never forget.

Day 1 – Route to the White Villages and arrival in Ronda

Our journey begins in Seville, from where we will head towards the heart of the White Villages, crossing typical Andalusian inland landscapes. We will pass through various types of scenery: the Andalusian countryside where we will see the castle of Aguzaderas, and little by little we will enter increasingly mountainous terrain.

The first stop will be at a traditional olive oil mill, where you will learn how extra virgin olive oil is produced using artisanal methods. We will learn all about the olive oil production process, after which attendees will enjoy a small olive oil tasting and those who wish may purchase local products.

We will continue to Zahara de la Sierra, a white village perched atop a hill, surrounded by a reservoir and mountains. We will enjoy a pleasant walk through its steep streets and the wonderful views of its natural surroundings, a journey full of surprises and photo opportunities.

We will move on to the Sierra de Grazalema, a natural site of great ecological value, home to the Spanish fir (a native fir tree) and the payoya goat, whose milk produces the renowned payoyo cheese. This will be the perfect place to stop for lunch, thanks to its delicious local cuisine. The guide will recommend restaurants and typical dishes so you can enjoy an authentic and tasty meal.

After the break, we will head to the Ronda mountain range to visit this wonderful town. In the company of our guide, you will discover the most important landmarks such as the Alameda, the Paseo de los Toreros, and the impressive Puente Nuevo.

At the end of the walking tour of Ronda, you can rest in your accommodation after a long and intense day.

Day 2 – Free day in Ronda and return to Seville

This day is designed for you to enjoy Ronda at your own pace. You can spend the morning visiting its museums, exploring viewpoints, wandering through the historic centre, relaxing on a terrace with views of the Andalusian landscape, doing some shopping or engaging in another activity.

Our guide will meet you around 17:30h to head back to Seville, where we will arrive at approximately 19:00h after having enjoyed a wonderful two-day and one-night getaway in the White Villages of Andalusia.

Please note that the itinerary order and its contents may vary depending on the season, weather, road conditions or local festivities, always aiming to provide the best possible experience for the group.
