The route to the famous White Villages of Andalusia follows the ancient border that for centuries separated the Christian kingdoms of Castile from the Nasrid territory of Granada (Al-Andalus). During this excursion from Seville, we will travel through landscapes of great beauty while discovering villages steeped in history and tradition, offering spectacular panoramic views.
We will leave Seville and travel through different natural environments in the province. First, we will cross the Andalusian countryside, where we will be able to see the historic Aguzaderas Castle in the distance, and little by little the landscape will become increasingly mountainous.
Our first stop will be at a traditional oil mill, where you will learn about the process of making olive oil, one of the most representative products of Andalusian cuisine. Here we will also enjoy a tasting of extra virgin olive oil from the area.
We will continue on to Zahara de la Sierra, one of the most spectacular white villages in Andalusia. Nestled between mountains and valleys, this enclave offers breathtaking views and an authentic atmosphere. We will stroll through its narrow streets as we discover the history of this charming village and enjoy its natural viewpoints.
The route will continue to the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, an area of great ecological, botanical and gastronomic value. It is home to unique species such as the Spanish fir and the Payoya goat, whose milk is used to make the famous Payoyo cheese.
In the village of Grazalema, we will stop for lunch, with recommendations from the guide on local restaurants and typical dishes of the area. Afterwards, you will have free time to stroll through its white streets and enjoy the natural surroundings.
After lunch, we will head towards Ronda, crossing part of the Alcornocales Natural Park, one of the largest cork oak forests in Europe. During the journey, we will learn about the importance of this tree and the traditional cork industry as we approach the impressive Serranía de Ronda mountain range.
Once in the city, the monumental tour of Ronda will begin, a walking tour of its spectacular historic centre where history, landscapes and tradition come together at every turn.
We will start at Plaza de la Merced and continue along Alameda del Tajo, one of the most beautiful promenades in the city, surrounded by nature and viewpoints overlooking the deep Tajo gorge and the Guadalevín river.
During the tour, we will admire the exterior of Ronda’s historic bullring, considered one of the oldest and most monumental in Spain, before arriving at the city’s great symbol: the Puente Nuevo, the impressive feat of engineering that connects the two parts of Ronda over the Tajo gorge.
We will also discover unique spots such as the Balcón del Coño, the Mirador de Ronda, the Convent of Santo Domingo and the Mirador María Auxiliadora, all of which offer some of the best views of the city.
You will have access to Ronda’s main monuments thanks to the Ronda Tourist Pass included in the experience, which allows entry to the Puente Nuevo, the Arab Baths of Ronda, the Giant’s House, the Joaquín Peinado Museum and the Mondragón Palace, former residence of the Muslim kings, allowing you to delve deeper into the historical and cultural heritage of this beautiful city.
After completing the tour and enjoying the unique atmosphere of Ronda, we will return to Seville after a day filled with history, spectacular landscapes and some of the most beautiful villages in Andalusia.
The order and duration of the tour may be adjusted depending on the time of year, weather conditions, road conditions and the local festival calendar.
