Guided Tour of Real Alcázar for reduced groups

Book Now

The Real Alcázar of Seville, declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 along with the Archivo de Indias and the Cathedral of Seville, is one of those places that are engraved in the memory and in the retina, along with the stories – imaginary or real – that have been lived and portrayed in it.

This guided tour takes place in a small group of a maximum of 12 people, ideal to enjoy a closer, more comfortable and personalised experience.

The setting for films and the series “Game of Thrones”, the Alcázar includes highlights such as the Prince’s Garden, the Courtyard of the Maidens, the Admiral’s Hall, the Upper Royal Room and the Courtyard of La Montería.

The origins of the Royal Alcazar date back to the High Middle Ages, and it still preserves areas of Islamic art that are impressive for their delicacy. However, the Mudejar art and the Gothic style are the main features that give it its uniqueness.

Over the centuries, Renaissance and Baroque elements were added. It was in the 14th century when King Don Pedro ordered the Almohad palaces to be demolished in order to build a new palace in the Mudejar style, next to the Gothic palace of Alfonso X, which was to be his Royal House. It is considered to be one of the oldest royal palaces in Europe still in use today.

For centuries it has been the residence of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville and, nowadays, it continues to be a space reserved for royalty, except during sightseeing tours.

Accompanied by an official Naturanda guide, in this small group tour we will discover all the secrets, legends and architectural details of the palace and its lush gardens.

We will stroll through its halls, courtyards and royal rooms, visiting emblematic corners such as the baths of María Padilla or the pond of Mercury, while we learn about the surprising stories that have shaped this unique place.

The tour ends in the gardens of the Real Alcázar, where you can enjoy the surroundings at your own pace after the explanation.

Enjoy an unforgettable experience in a small group!

The Mosque of Córdoba – Get to know the Mosque of Córdoba

The Mosque
of Córdoba

The largest mosque in the world.

They are the cathedrals, places built leaving nothing to chance , with knowledge and magic beyond our understanding. Examples of this we have in our Andalusia , from Seville to Córdoba passing through many other enclaves in whose construction there is a secret that only its builders knew.

The Mosque of Córdoba is a surprising space, as soon as we enter it we are moved by its difficult to explain feeling. It is a forest but it is not just any forest, it is a forest of columns that are lost in an immense labyrinth of arches in a marvelous play of light and colours.

The Cathedral of Córdoba welcomes us so that we can enter that immense monument that in its location also has the magic and secret of the disappeared cultures.

Córdoba was once an Iberian town in 106 BC , it began to have a notable importance in the times of the Empire, a center highlighted by the Romans under the command of Lucio Mario, although it reached its maximum splendor under Muslim domination, among the Umayyad emirs, although not exempt from internal power struggles.

Abderramán III was the one who would put an end to those disputes and would consolidate what is the Caliphate of Córdoba . The Caliphal city still has the Muslim vestiges of that golden age in which it lived.

The mosque is attributed to Abd-ar-Rahman at a time when the Caliphate of Damascus was of supreme importance, in the year 756. When the independence of Western Islam was proclaimed in 780, it was decided to build the largest mosque in the world on an equally significant site: a Visigothic church.

It was the church of San Vicente and its construction would extend through the reigns of Abderramán I, Abderramán II and Alhaken II, ending in the year 987. Inside there are almost 1,000 columns and arches that are the highest artistic representation of what is now Caliphate art in a sacred construction.

The Mosque of Córdoba is built on a special place: a promontory next to the Guadalquivir in a construction stereotype that seems to be repeated in almost all cultures and religions.

Usually over a temple of the invaded culture the new temple of the invaders was built and with it the power of the same was always assimilated as well as the memory of the past was erected in that same place.

The Mosque stands on a high place, it is considered a place of power that must be taken into account because a special energy emanates from it.

Interestingly, and according to the studies carried out in this regard, before the Visigothic temple it is believed that there was a Roman temple. All this is argued after having found a thousand-year-old column there when in the 16th century a work was carried out in the transept of the cathedral. Thus, the choice of the place to erect their sacred temple would not be the result of chance, but rather it was already chosen by Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians to erect their sacred temples.

Visit a marvel of Islamic architecture

The Mosque has another peculiarity: it does not look at Mecca but at Damascus . It is divided into several distinct parts: the minaret, the Courtyard of Ablutions or Place of Purification, and the prayer hall. Also noteworthy are its twelve doors (representing the months of the year, the apostles, the signs of the zodiac, etc.), the prominent door of Saint Stephen, and the main door, or Door of Forgiveness.

A building with a history like no other

In the mosque, the courtyard of ablutions is a highly symbolic, magical space, as it serves a very specific purpose: before entering the prayer hall, worshippers must purify themselves, thus performing a symbolic cleansing of the five senses. The water used also had extraordinary properties, but it has long since disappeared.

The Mosque of Córdoba is a magical place located in a place of power, and as such, it has a wonderful influence on human beings. No one should miss the opportunity to visit it and allow their body and mind to commune with the energies that emanate from within.

More information about our Seville Monumental tour

Seville, capital city of Andalucía, has one of the largest historic city centres in Europe, along with cities such as Genoa and Venice. Its streets hide an endless number of stories, legends and mysteries. The city has been a commercial and cultural centre for centuries and has some monuments known all over the world, such as the Cathedral, the Giralda and the Reales Alcázares.

The Cathedral of Seville, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts of being the largest Gothic cathedral in the world – built on the site of an ancient mosque – and of hiding treasures such as the tomb of Christopher Columbus or the largest altarpiece in all of Christianity, full of symbolism and secrets.

We will be surprised by its hugeness and architectural details, we will stroll through its famous Patio de los Naranjos and we will be amazed by the ascent to the Giralda, Seville‘s emblematic monument, which, at almost one hundred metres high, is one of the monuments declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Royal Alcazar of Seville is one of the most renowned royal palaces in the world for its beauty, its architectural details and its history. It is still the residence of the Spanish Royal Family on their visits to the city of Seville.

Its pavilions, rooms, halls and lush gardens leave no one indifferent. For many, the Real Alcázar of Seville is more recognisable since it has been the setting for the filming of important productions such as the famous television series “Game of Thrones”.

Accompanied by an official guide we will get to know, in depth, the history of Seville through its most important monuments and different architectural styles. Moreover, by booking with Naturanda, you will avoid the long queues that are formed daily to access the monuments and you will enjoy your visit in complete comfort.

Guided tour of the Real Alcazar of Seville

Book Now

The Real Alcázar of Seville, declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, together with the Archive of the Indies and the Cathedral of Seville, is one of those places to keep in the memory and in the retina together with the stories —imaginary or not— that have been portrayed in them. Highlights include spaces such as the Prince’s Garden, the Courtyard of the Maidens, the Admiral’s Hall, the upper royal room and the Courtyard of La Montería.

The origins of the Royal Alcazar of Seville date back to the time of the High Middle Ages, although some areas of Islamic art have been preserved, which are impressive for their delicacy. In any case, Mudejar art and the Gothic style predominate.

Later, Renaissance and Baroque elements were added. It was in the 14th century when King Don Pedro ordered the demolition of the three Almohad palace buildings to build a palace in Mudejar style, attached to the Gothic-style palace of Alfonso X, which would serve as the Royal House. A palace that amazed King Ferdinand III “The Saint” himself and one of the oldest in Europe.

Over the centuries it has been the residence of members of the Spanish Royal Family in Seville. Today, it is still exclusively reserved for royal use, except for tourist visits.

Accompanied by an official Naturanda guide, on our tour we will discover all the secrets and legends of the architectural complex and its lush gardens. We will walk through the different halls, courtyards and rooms of this impressive royal palace and discover magnificent corners of the palace such as the famous baths of María Padilla or the pond of Mercury.

Corners full of secrets and legends that will be explained during the guided tour, which will end in the gardens of the Real Alcázar, so that attendees can enjoy all its charms.

What will we see?

Book Now

Created to be one of the largest religious temples in the world, the Cathedral of Seville was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and an Asset of Outstanding Universal Value in 2010.

The Cathedral of Seville was built after the demolition of the old Aljama Mosque in Seville. De la construcción original se conservan el alminar (actual Giralda) y su famoso Patio de los Naranjos. It is located next to the Archivo de Indias, the Reales Alcázares and the famous Barrio de Santa Cruz. It is located next to the Archivo de Indias, the Reales Alcázares and the famous Barrio de Santa Cruz.

For more than 150 years the Christians used the Muslim temple as a place of worship, and it was in 1401 when the cathedral chapter decided to build a new temple. The building work continued until the 15th century, in fact until 1506. Tradition has it that the canons wanted to build a church so large ‘‘that those who see it finished may think us mad”.

During the Renaissance period, various outbuildings attached to the Gothic church were rebuilt, such as the Sacristy, the Chapter House and the Royal Chapel. It was also built the last part of the Giralda, by Hernán Ruíz, which, at 104 metres high, is visible from all parts of the city and is currently the most emblematic monument in Seville.

During our guided tour, our official guide will accompany you to discover all the secrets and the history of this magnificent architectural ensemble. Descubriremos algunos de los secretos que se guardan en su interior como los restos de Christopher Columbus or the greatest altarpiece of the Christian world.

After the visit, inside the Cathedral, we will have the opportunity to walk through the beautiful Patio de los Naranjos. In addition, if you wish, you can climb to the top of the Giralda to enjoy beautiful views of the city of Seville and take some excellent photographs to remember.
