Cordoba in One Day

What to see in Cordoba in 1 day?

What you cannot miss in your visit to Cordoba in 1 day

It is one of the most important cities that we can find to the south of Spain, the caliphal city, that one that had an important weight within the Muslim stage and that sample of it we can find if we make a visit to Cordova in one day.

First thing that stands out among its monuments is the eternal roman bridge on the Guadalquivir, a challenge to construction and of great length. In Cordoba we can start by la Plaza de las Tendillas, there where the most commercial area and the medieval part of the caliphal city merge. A very visual and interesting place to soak up its history.

The Roman Temple will be another mandatory stop and the Plaza de la Corredera, Nearby is Seneca Square, highlights the bust of the famous Cordovan philosopher, from there we can move on to the Jewish quarter with its labyrinthine streets.

The Mosque of Cordoba

The ‘Puerta del Puente’ or the Calahorra Tower are very visual although what stands out most is its impressive Mosque-Cathedral. It’s the most emblematic place in Cordoba because the history of al-Andalus has an important epicentre here. To enter in its interior is to get lost in a forest of columns and beautiful polychrome arts that give it a very special charm.

The Synagogue of Cordoba is equally essential to visit as well as in its vicinity we can find the Mudejar Chapel of San Bartolomé, the House of Sepharad or the Andalusía House.

The Almodovar Gate and the ancient walls of the city give it a special significance in this tour that we do in a single day. The majestic Alcazar of the Christian Kings, The Royal Stables or the Baths of the Caliphal Alcazar, an extraordinary and unique example of Arab architecture, are equally outstanding.

Museums and Medina Azahara

The Palace of Viana and its legendary courtyards, the ever-impressive Cristo de los Faroles or el hammam Al Ándalus and the Arab baths. We can finish by visiting the Museum of Julio Romero de Torres y the Museum Arqueológico; if we have some time left we can take our vehicle and visit the archaeological site of Medina Azahara.
